The Forging Industry Association announced the winners of its 2017 Safety Awards during its recent fall meeting in Fort Worth, TX. The 16 companies represent the top-performing forging operations as determined by the annual FIA Occupational Injury & Illness Survey, which collects data for several safety categories.

The forging operations’ safety results are compared with other operations of similar employment size, and the best performances are ranked to determine first, second, and third place award-winners in four groups.

The 2017 FIA Safety Award winners are:

In each group, another plant was recognized with an Improvement Award for demonstrating the greatest increase in DART rate (days away from work, work restrictions and job transfer cases), as compared to the previous three-year averages. The companies recognized with Improvement Awards are Walker Forge Inc. – Clintonville Plant (Group IV); Bonney Forge (Group III); Scot Forge Co. – Clinton Division (Group II); and Keystone Forging Co. (Group I).

The Occupational Injury & Illness Survey is one of the offerings in FIA’s dynamic benchmarking platform, which participating forging company may use to collect data and customized reports for their organizational benchmarking efforts.
