SenseGuard X-Ray Inspection Systems Find Glass, Stone, and Bone
Contaminants such as glass, stone, bone, and dense plastic can enter a line with raw material feeds or end up sealed inside finished packages, and missing them can lead to costly product recalls. Eriez's SenseGuard X-ray Inspection Systems use high-definition imaging and AI-enhanced image analysis to detect metallic and nonmetallic contaminants. They also verify fill levels, seal integrity, uniformity, positioning, and missing components. The systems can inspect incoming raw materials, pumped product streams, or packaged items.
The line comes in 4 series:
- XRP systems inspect packaged products such as cases, cartons, bags, pouches, trays, and small cups.
- XRP models come in 6 sizes, offering:
- Inspection widths of 11 to 30 in (280 to 760 mm)
- Inspection heights of 5 to 14 in (120 to 350 mm)
- Belt widths of 11 to 31.5 in (275 to 800 mm)
- XRP models come in 6 sizes, offering:
- XRB systems screen raw, unpackaged bulk materials such as nuts, seeds, fruit, grains, and frozen berries, catching glass, metal, stone, and unwanted clumps before they reach downstream machinery, even when product flow is uneven or overlapping.
- XRB models come in 2 sizes, with inspection widths of 14 in (360 mm) and 22 in (570 mm).
- XRS systems scan upright cans, jars, and bottles from the side to reach dense regions hidden from top-down systems, including the cap, neck, and base, without rotating containers. They work with both glass and opaque packaging.
- XRS models come in 4 sizes, offering 1 to 3 X-ray sources.
- XRL systems inspect liquid, pumped, and semi-solid streams where conveyor or gravity systems aren’t feasible, using high-speed image acquisition for turbulent product flow and a reject valve that limits product loss.
- XRL model offers a pole diameter of 4 in (100 mm).
Linear diode array detectors produce high-contrast images, while protective shields and an inspection block prevent X-ray leakage. Operators view scans and analysis on a 15-in (38 cm) touchscreen, with inspection tools for mass, shape, density, and missing components. The software provides real-time visualization, automatic calibration, and audit-ready data logging and reporting.
All models have modular stainless steel construction with a compact footprint, washdown ratings, tool-free disassembly for sanitation and maintenance, and built-in rejection options.
