April 18, 2018
Texas supplier to oil-and-gas industry adds more open-die forging, heat-treating, machining capabilities

Forged Components Inc., a manufacturer of steel components and products for oil-and-gas and chemical processing in Humble, TX, reported recently that it acquired Houston-based Forge USA in July 2017. Forge USA, an open-die forging operation, filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in November 2016, claiming liabilities of $10 million-$50 million.

Forged Components Inc. did not report the value or other terms of its acquisition.

FCI explained the purchase in Houston includes a 14,000-lb. Chambersburg open-die hammer, a complete heat-treating operation, and a CNC machining operation.

With the addition of the Forge USA assets, FCI has a total of 300,000 lbs. of heat-treating capacity in Houston, Humble, and Navasota, TX.

In total, as a result of its acquisition, FCI has over 300,000 sq.ft. of manufacturing space for forging, heat-treating, and CNC machining at six locations in Texas.

The new assets mean that FCI is capable of producing open-die and semi-closed die forged shapes weighing from five to 50,000 lbs.
