California Amforge Corp. has been acquired by Premier Forge Group, whose CEO Bill Kerfin noted the purchase will give it "significant scale in the aerospace and defense sector, while further developing our oil-and-gas business."
The value and other terms of the purchase were not announced.
The Azusa, CA, California Amforge includes seven closed-die presses; four upset presses; and a seamless ring rolling line for forged pieces up to 40-in. OD. The plant also a hydraulic sizer and a free-wheeling forging manipulator.
California Amforge offers products in carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, and titanium alloys.
Premier Forge Group is comprised of two closed-die steel forging operations in Portland, IN, and Lebanon, KY, sold in June 2019 by Allegheny Technologies Inc. to Wynnchurch Capital LLC for $37 million in cash. The plants produce small forged parts in carbon, specialty alloy, and stainless steels for industrial markets, including oil-and-gas, transportation, and construction and mining industries.
“I’m excited about the future of the company as Wynnchurch and management will bring the tools and resources to significantly grow the business and take it to the next level," stated Sue Congalton, former CEO and principal shareholder of California Amforge.
She added that the combination of the two businesses is "a strong strategic fit with complementary products, capabilities, and end-markets, but also an excellent cultural fit with our shared dedication to customer service and our employees.”
