Nidec Machine Tool America Brings AI-Powered Gear Inspection, Grinding Tech to IMTS 2026

Nidec Machine Tool America will showcase RoboCam, the ZFA260 grinder, and MSS300 skiving machine at IMTS 2026, Sept. 14-19.

Nidec Machine Tool America (NMTA) will showcase its latest gear manufacturing and inspection technologies at IMTS 2026, running September 14-19 at McCormick Place in Chicago. At Booth #237054 in the North Building, Level 3, NMTA will demonstrate its newly released RoboCam inspection solution alongside the ZFA260 gear grinder and MSS300 Super Skiving machine.

Automated Tool Inspection With RoboCam

Making its first public appearance at IMTS 2026, RoboCam is NMTA's robotic camera solution for automated gear cutting tool inspection. Powered by artificial intelligence, the system evaluates cutting tool condition, helping manufacturers improve efficiency while optimizing tooling performance and maintenance operations.

High-Speed, High-Precision Grinding With the ZFA260

Engineered for high-speed, high-precision machining, the ZFA260 handles gears with external diameters up to 10.2 in (260 mm). Its twin-table structure includes a high-speed rotary column that minimizes non-machining time, while simultaneous full-form flank bias adjustment helps optimize tooth geometry. The machine is suited for manufacturers producing high-volume automotive and robotic components where consistency and throughput are critical.

Internal and External Gear Cutting With the MSS300

Also featured at the booth, the MSS300 Super Skiving machine delivers high-performance machining for both internal and external gears. Its design supports thermal and mechanical stability throughout the cutting process. Massive guideways on the three linear axes provide rigidity, and a twin-ball-screw drive on the Z-axis delivers consistent power and control. Nidec's patented Super Skiving tools reduce chip loading, enabling high-efficiency machining using Nidec-optimized skiving strategies.

The MSS300 accommodates workpieces with diameters up to 11.8 in (300 mm), a maximum gear width of 3.9 in (100 mm), and a maximum spindle speed of 5,000 rpm.

A Broader Portfolio of Advanced Manufacturing Solutions

"Our focus at IMTS is to show attendees how they can stay ahead of increasing production demands," said Scott Knoy, vice president of sales at NMTA. The equipment on display is intended to address bottlenecks in inspection automation and complex gear machining.
