NIBCO, Inc. announced that more than 200 SKUs of its small-diameter press fittings (2 inches and below) have been recognized by IAPMO (The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials) for a new 300 psi rating, up from the previous 200 psi rating. The certification complies with ASTM F3226.

As part of the update, fitting markings and packaging graphics are being revised, including new labels for bags and cartons. New material numbers will also be introduced. Existing inventory of the affected fittings may be used at the higher rating.

You can see the packaging changes in NIBCO's original release.

There are some exceptions:

  • Extended adapters are excluded as only fittings with press ends are covered under this standard.
  • Threaded elbows and tees that are soldered cannot be certified under this standard.
  • A few products, vent elbows and drop elbows, were excluded based on their manufacturing location.

"This enhanced certification highlights the reliability and performance of our press fittings and reflects our ongoing investment in innovation," said Marilyn Morgan, senior product manager-fittings, NIBCO. "We are proud to offer solutions that meet evolving industry standards and exceed customer expectations."

The NIBCO Press System includes a patented leak detection feature to identify uncrimped fittings and a flame-free installation method designed to improve job site safety.
