Next-Gen Brinell Hardness Testing Machine

Closed-loop benchtop system, with simple, icon-based controls

FOUNDRAX launched its next-generation Robus machine recently, a development that "delivers a high accuracy Brinell hardness testing capability from the most robust benchtop system on the market," explained Alex Austin, managing director. "Our machines deliver laboratory precision hardness testing in steelworks conditions and we pride ourselves on the accuracy, repeatability, and lifespan of all our equipment. We have one example of a machine that has performed around 35,000,000 tests!”

The Robus is a closed-loop benchtop Brinell hardness tester capable of operating in all scales from HBW 2.5/62.5 to HBW 10/3000, but it is supplied calibrated and UKAS-certified in any two scales as standard (all scales available if required.) The load cells are custom-made specifically for the forces used in Brinell hardness testing, not "off the shelf" units run over capacity; the body is designed using finite element analysis to be able easily resist the forces generated during the full 3,000-kg test.

The control system is simple, intuitive, and icon-based and able to operate in any language the user prefers. The interface is based on the Foundrax BRINtronic system, simple and reliable for the operator.

Foundrax has more than 70 years of operating experience in foundries, forge shops, and steelmaking operations, and specializes in Brinell hardness-testing equipment and accessories. It also offers custom-built testing systems worldwide, for aerospace, power -generation, automotive, leisure, and construction industries.

The Foundrax BRIN400D is a rugged, “floor-standing” Brinell hardness tester that carries out fully automatic indentation and measurement for production level applications. This robust and reliable machine has been designed to meet the customer’s most demanding requirements in harsh industrial environments, such as those found in foundries, forge shops, and steelmaking operations.
