LEYON-Safe-E 3D LiDAR Door Sensors Detect People, Vehicles
Industrial doors and gates in high-traffic facilities are crossed constantly by workers and vehicles, and a door that fails to register what is in its path during opening or closing can cause personal injury and vehicle damage. Carlo Gavazzi's LEYON-Safe-E is a high-definition 3D door sensor that detects objects around industrial doors and gates, providing contactless protection throughout every opening and closing cycle.
Using LiDAR technology, it combines real-time 3D imaging, infrared laser illumination, and continuous-wave time-of-flight measurement to generate a map of its surroundings and react immediately to potential risks. It establishes a 3D safety zone that detects both people and vehicles, with early detection in the area in front of the door. Because one device covers protection across the full door cycle, it reduces the complexity of the door's safety system while maintaining continuous protection and uninterrupted operation.
The sensor complies with EN 12453 (Type E), EN 12978, and UL 325, and it operates in harsh environments from -22° to 131°F (-30° to 55°C) with an IP65 rating. A symmetrical design simplifies installation, and an Automatic Teach function configures the safety zone without additional tools or mechanical adjustments. Setup is handled through a web app.
