2FGP20 Fork Electric Gripper Palletizes Open, Low-Rigidity Boxes
Open cartons, display boxes, and shrink-wrapped trays lack the flat, airtight top surface that vacuum grippers need, and many can't be side-gripped either. Palletizing them has typically meant custom pneumatic tooling or manual handling. OnRobot's 2FGP20 Fork all-electric fork palletizing gripper for open and low-rigidity boxes handles box payloads up to 35 lb (16 kg) on industrial and collaborative robots.
The gripper lifts packages from underneath with its forks. An adjustable top clamp holds them steady from above with 2.2 to 9 lbf (10 to 40 N) of holding force. The fork stroke is 10 in (260 mm), and the top clamp stroke is 9 in (218 mm). Grip detection confirms the package is held securely.
Four standard fork configurations (Narrow Short, Wide Short, Narrow Long, and Wide Long) cover box heights from 4 to 18 in (100 to 450 mm) and widths from 5 to 16 in (120 to 400 mm).
The gripper runs entirely on electricity, so the cell needs no compressed air supply. That reduces installation complexity, energy consumption, and maintenance compared with pneumatic tooling. An integrated electric vacuum pump picks and places interlayer slip sheets up to 5.5 lb (2.5 kg), so the robot handles slip sheets without tool changes or cycle interruptions.
Plugins and scripts are included for ABB, Doosan, Fanuc, JAKA, Omron TM, Techman, Universal Robots, and Kawasaki robots. The gripper also integrates with D:PLOY automated deployment software for setting up box patterns. Other robot brands connect through digital signals (WebLogic).
