Chobani Takes Over Former Keurig Dr Pepper Plant in $1.2 Billion Pennsylvania Expansion

Chobani takes over a 1.5M-sq-ft former KDP plant in PA in a $1.2B deal, adding 900 jobs and new food manufacturing capacity by 2027.

Chobani is taking over a former Keurig Dr Pepper manufacturing facility located at 7356 Industrial Boulevard in Upper Macungie Township, Pennsylvania, as part of a $1.2 billion investment that will create more than 900 jobs over the next five years.

The company will assume operations of the 1.5 million-sq-ft (139,350-m²) plant, along with its existing equipment and infrastructure, and plans to run it beyond yogurt production. Chobani intends to use the site to manufacture what it calls the next generation of food products, though it hasn't detailed the specific lines yet.

Chobani is taking on the plant's existing equipment and infrastructure rather than building new, which should let it get large-scale production running faster. The company will also work alongside farmers, local governments, economic development organizations, and community partners to strengthen the infrastructure, workforce, and supply chains necessary for sustainable growth. Production is expected to start in 2027.

Once fully operational, the plant will process more than 3 billion pounds (1.36 billion kg) of Pennsylvania milk per year, which is about 30% of the state's current output. That kind of demand will reshape sourcing and logistics for more than 4,000 dairy farms across the state.

Hamdi Ulukaya, Chobani's founder and CEO, said the company saw the facility as a "great fit for what we want to build for the future" after touring it.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro called it the state's largest-ever private investment in agriculture, and local economic development officials framed it as continued momentum for the Lehigh Valley's food and beverage manufacturing base, which has grown roughly 31% since 2020—more than three times the national rate.
