April 14, 2005
Price increases reflect the stronger demand and increased operational costs.

The Specialty Alloys Operations unit of Carpenter Technology Corp. has announced that it will increase base prices 4-7 percent on all stainless alloys and 6-10 percent on all premium-melted alloys in all product forms, effective immediately on all new orders. Raw material surcharges will remain in effect.

Carpenter said that demand continues to be very strong for its premium melted and stainless alloy products. The price increases reflect the stronger demand and increased operational costs associated with energy, freight, manufacturing supplies and healthcare.
