Firth Rixson, Pratt & Whitney in Long-Term Supply Agreement

July 20, 2010
Predominate share of commercial and military ring requirements, starting in 2015

Firth Rixson Ltd. reports it has a new long-term agreement to supply Pratt & Whitney with “the predominate share” of its seamless ring forging requirements, covering the full range of commercial and military aircraft engines that Pratt & Whitney producers.

Specific terms of the contract, including its total value and types of rings to be supplied, were not released. The new contract runs through December 2015.

"With this agreement, Firth Rixson once again continues to strengthen its position as the leading supplier of forged rings to the aerospace industry," said David Mortimer, CEO of Firth Rixson. "We are especially pleased to extend our participation and strengthened role as a strategic supplier to United Technologies in support of its many aerospace offerings."

Firth Rixson produces rolled rings for aerospace, automotive, power generation, railway, and other markets at four plants in the U.S., one in England, and one in China. The group also produces open- and closed-die forgings, and presently is building its first U.S. closed-die forging plant in Georgia.

Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. subsidiary and one of the world’s largest developers and manufacturers of aircraft engines.

Late last year, Firth Rixson and Pratt & Whitney Canada extended their ongoing supply arrangement into a new purchasing agreement to run through 2021.
