FPT Industrial has announced that it will supply 1,064 Cursor 13 Natural Gas engines for the fleet of IVECO S-WAY CNG trucks that will be delivered to Amazon.
Amazon's partners in Europe have already received the first batch of 216 units while another 848 units will start delivering in mid-2022.
According to FPT Industrial, the Cursor 13 NG engine was specifically developed to offer enhanced performance while lowering operation costs—all without compromising its endurance and providing one of the best low environmental impact alternatives for long-range deliveries.
The Cursor 13 NG engine provides diesel-like performance, a maximum power output of 460 hp at 1,900 rpm, and a maximum torque of 2,000 Nm at 1,100 rpm. It can run on 100% CNG, LNG or biomethane, and uses stoichiometric combustion to ensure improved fuel economy and reduce noise levels compared to diesel—achieving a 40% fuel savings. Using a well-to-wheel CO2 measurement approach, it can cut CO2 emissions by up to 95% when fueled by biomethane—contributing to the decarbonization process of long-haul commercial transport.
