Ajax Manufacturing Co. has formed a new division d.b.a. Chambersburg Equipment Co. The new business, formerly known as Forging Parts and Machining Co., is operated by former CECO employees, each with over 30 years of experience.
Effective December 30, 2004, Ajax Manufacturing acquired all intellectual property of the former Chambersburg Engineering Co. from Chambersburg Engineering Acquisition Corp., which has ceased to exist. According to company officials, this will enable the division to build new hammers, impacters, and wheel presses and to rebuild older Chambersburg machines.
Management and engineering offices are located in Cleveland, as is manufacturing, while a sales and service office will be located in Shippensburg, PA. Spare parts inventory is being maintained in Cleveland and will be adjusted and replenished according to customer needs. Manufacturing and rebuilding will be handled in the Ajax Manufacturing facility with over 120,000 square feet of floor space serviced by a 150-ton crane with 40 feet under hook. The plant is served by rail and is easily accessible by highway from Interstate 90.
