Desktop Metal announced its Studio System, which the company calls "the world’s first office-friendly metal 3D printing system for functional prototyping and low volume production," is available to customers and resellers throughout Europe.
The three-part solution includes the printer, debinder and sintering furnace and automates 3D printing with Desktop Metal's cloud-based software.
Offering engineers direct, tangible access to their designs, the system enables faster printing of metal parts without the need for special facilities, dedicated operators or expensive tooling. The magic of the Studio System is that it uses bound metal deposition, which does not require external ventilation and prevents the exposure of solvents and lasers. By eliminating the safety requirements normally associated with metal 3D printers, the Studio System is a perfect solution for many environments to make parts in-house.
It has already received a great response in North America from the likes of Ford, Stanley Black and Decker, and Goodyear. BMW in Germany and MSA in France are a few of the new European users.

Boasting up to a 90% cost reduction relative to machining and selective laser melting (SLM), the Studio System offers a 10 times larger sintering volume than competitive systems and produces parts in just days instead of weeks or months.
