Optical Gaging Products (OGP), a division of Quality Vision International, is marking its 80th anniversary as one of the industry's longstanding developers of optical and multisensor metrology systems used by manufacturers across aerospace, automotive, medical, and electronics industries.

Key Milestones:

  • 1945: OGP begins with optical comparators used for precision inspection in post-war manufacturing.
  • 1956: Introduces Projectron, one of the first electronic edge detection systems, automating part measurement.
  • 1980: Launches the Vidicom Qualifier, a computer-controlled video measuring system that helped move dimensional inspection from manual to digital.
  • Late 1980s: Pioneers multisensor measurement with the IQ-2000, combining video, laser, and tactile sensors to expand the range of parts that could be measured automatically.
  • 1990s–Today: Building on the foundation of the IQ-2000, the SmartScope line was developed, introducing fully automatic 3D multisensor measurement. The newest generation, SmartScope M-Series, features OGP's patented IntelliCentric-M Optical system for improved accuracy and repeatability.

"We are extremely proud of our longstanding legacy as a leader in dimensional metrology. Our mission has always been to provide innovative optical and multisensor solutions to the world's precision measurement needs, and to be our customers' first choice to solve their challenging dimensional metrology requirements. We achieve this by remaining steadfast in delivering leading innovation and unparalleled service, driven by the dedication of our employees and the support of our partners," said Keith E. Polidor, president and CEO, OGP.

Over eight decades, OGP has earned more than 90 patents and supported quality control efforts across diverse industries. As the company looks ahead, OGP continues to focus on developing practical, integrated solutions for precision measurement. Its work spans optics, engineering, software design, and manufacturing—built on the same foundation of innovation that began eight decades ago.

"OGP has helped thousands of manufacturers around the world achieve confidence in their quality programs using OGP systems. We are an international company with subsidiary offices in multiple countries, and channel partners covering every industrialized corner of the globe to support our growing list of customers on a local basis. During our anniversary celebration, we recognize and celebrate our channel partners and employees for being such an integral part of our success over these 80 years," remarked R. Stephen Flynn, president, OGP.
