PEM® Type SMPS™ self-clinching nuts can be mounted up to 50% closer to the edge of ultra-thin steel sheets than standard self-clinching nuts. Their relatively lower profile (smaller diameter and height) further makes these fasteners ideal to serve in applications where space for attachment hardware is limited.These self-clinching nuts have been engineered to install in steel sheets as thin as .025”/0.64mm. Their diameter (.220”/5.6mm) and height (0.65”/5.6mm) contribute to the low-profile design requiring minimal “real estate.”The nuts install permanently and will not loosen, fall out, or otherwise adversely impact end-product integrity or performance. They provide reliable and reusable threads for a mating screw to complete final component attachment with the least amount of hardware.The fasteners are made from 300 Series stainless steel and are available in unified and metric thread sizes #2-56 through #6-32 and M2.5 through M3.5. They are RoHS compliant.In cases where hardware is installed prior to painting or similar operations, an optional PEM® Blu-Coat™ thread mask can be specially applied in advance. Threads of the mating hardware during assembly will remove the paint, electro-deposited automotive under coatings, or weld splatter upon application of torque.
