EPRF-BS Stainless Electric Cylinder Built for Food-Contact Zones
Linear actuators in food, pharmaceutical, and packaging lines have to withstand frequent high-pressure washdowns and stay sealed against water and cleaning agents, often in direct contact with product. Festo's EPRF-BS stainless steel electric cylinder offers a clean design for hygiene-critical areas, with a 316L (1.4404) stainless steel housing, an IP69K protection rating, and NSF-H1 certified grease for direct food contact.
Two IP69K piston rod seals connected in series provide dual sealing to achieve protection class IPX9K in accordance with ISO 20653. A pressure equalization connection prevents condensation by discharging air outside the food zone. The smooth, easy-to-clean surface simplifies maintenance and supports corrosion resistance, and the rating plate is laser-engraved for durability. The cylinder reaches speeds of 3 ft/s (1 m/s) and operates from 14° to 140°F (-10° to 60°C).
The cylinder is available in 5 sizes with diameters of 1.4, 1.7, 2.1, 2.9, and 3.3 in (36, 45, 55, 75, and 86 mm), stroke lengths up to 39 in (1,000 mm), and feed forces up to 2,810 lbf (12.5 kN).
Six mounting options (M1 to M6) and rotatable front flanges allow the cylinder to be positioned to suit the machine layout. Motor mounting kits support axial or parallel motor orientation and can be rotated by 90°.
The cylinder pairs with the EMMH-AS stainless steel servo motor and NEBM motor cable to form a hygienic drive system.
