EMMH-AS Stainless Steel Servo Motor Handles IP69K Washdown
Motion axes in food, pharmaceutical, and packaging lines have to withstand frequent high-pressure washdowns and aggressive cleaning agents without corroding or trapping residue. Festo's EMMH-AS is a brushless stainless steel servo motor for use in hygiene-critical areas with a 316L (1.4404) stainless steel housing, an IP69K protection rating, and NSF-H1 grease, allowing food contact.
The smooth surface and easy-to-clean design simplify maintenance and support corrosion resistance. Dual sealing technology protects the motor, including the shaft, to protection class IPX9K in accordance with ISO 20653.
All motor sizes use a single-cable connection (OCP) with a stainless steel M17 plug and an integrated pressure equalization hose, which reduces installation effort and the number of cables to route. The type plate is laser engraved for durability.
The motor is available in 4 sizes, each in two overall lengths, with holding torque from 0.54 to 12 lb-ft (0.73 to 16 Nm). An optional holding brake supports vertical axes and safety requirements, and an energy-saving mode reduces the holding current. A battery-free, multiturn digital absolute encoder with an EnDat 2.2 interface and digital nameplate tracks position without battery replacement or maintenance.
The EMMH-AS pairs with the EPRF stainless steel electric cylinder and NEBM motor cable to form a hygienic drive system. Motor mounting kits support parallel or axial mounting and can be rotated by 90°. When used with the CMMT-AS-MP servo drive, the system supports Profinet, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus in a single drive hardware, and commissioning is handled through Automation Suite software.
