Fun Innovations Friday: ChatGPT Eyewear is the Next Evolution of Smart Glasses

Dec. 8, 2023
Lucyd Eyewear has created LucydLite 2.0, smart glasses and shades that include the ability to speak with ChatGPT, hands-free.

A new wearable to set your eyes on! Or to set upon your eyes.

Lucyd, an eyewear technology company has developed smart eyewear, including glasses and sunglasses. We all know smartglasses are nothing new as Bose, Rayban, Meta, etc. have come out with all kinds of styles and features.

However, Lucyd has developed smart glasses that now include ChatGPT—the LucydLite 2.0 line. To do so, they developed an app (available in iOS and Android) that enables a voice interface for ChatGPT on the eyewear. By leveraging ChatGPT’s advanced capabilities, users can do much more than simple voice commands. They can engage in interactive conversations, get instant answers to questions, draft messages, and even schedule appointments without the need to touch their devices. With built-in microphones and stereo speakers, users can have fluid conversations through their glasses.

The app is device agnostic and works with many other hearables, including, but not limited to, AirPods. Additionally, the app may be used via a streamlined visual interface on any smartphone to enhance accessibility.

"We are excited to be the first company to provide ChatGPT-enabled smart eyewear. With our new Lucyd app, which is free to our eyewear customers, we are continuing to make smart eyewear more accessible and functional than ever before,” says Harrison Gross, CEO of Innovative Eyewear.

“A great pair of smartglasses is defined by three key factors: fashion, tech, and suitability for all-day wear. The Lyte 2.0 collection successfully addresses these factors and now provides access to the world’s most popular AI assistant. By connecting to ChatGPT with your voice on Lucyd smart eyewear, you can access a wealth of detailed research on just about any subject, making it one of the most powerful mobile learning systems available.”

Connecting to your phone, PC or smartwatch through Bluetooth, the glasses have a 100-ft connection range, four speakers, and dual-noise canceling microphones so you can take a phone call through your glasses and listen to music or podcasts.

Additionally, the company has developed a dock for the smart eyewear, letting users drop the glasses on the dock to charge.

Harrison Gross, CEO of Innovative Eyewear, said "We are closer than ever to our goal of the world's most user-friendly smartglasses with the launch of the Lucyd Dock 2.0. I am confident our customers will enjoy using the Dock to keep their various devices charged and their cables more neatly organized. By adding the new USB data functionality enabling the Dock to be used as a USB hub for computers, we have made it even more of a must-have accessory for our smart eyewear customers."
