Trew Partners With Brightpick to Expand Robotic Fulfillment Portfolio
Trew, a West Chester, Ohio-based manufacturer and integrator of automated material handling solutions, has partnered with Brightpick to add AI-powered robotic storage, goods-to-person fulfillment, and robotic picking technologies to its automation ecosystem.
Through the partnership, Trew will integrate two Brightpick platforms: the Gridpicker, a high-density automated storage and retrieval system operated by AI-powered mobile manipulators; and the Autopicker, a multi-purpose mobile robot designed for end-to-end fulfillment automation.
The Gridpicker is a high-density ASRS built on modular, aisle-based shelving up to 40 ft (12 m) tall. It supports robotic picking directly from storage totes, prioritized access to fast-moving SKUs stored at the top of the grid, and goods-to-person picking at operator stations for complex, heavy, or batch picks. Brightpick claims throughput of up to 10 order lines per sq. m per hour—roughly 2x that of typical shuttle systems and 5x that of AMR-based solutions. New aisles can be added without stopping the system.
The Autopicker handles picking, replenishment, sortation, and buffering, moving between tasks and workstations autonomously. It supports three picking modes: robotic picking directly inside storage aisles, goods-to-person picking at operator stations rated at 500+ order lines per hour, and a fast lane mode for high-velocity SKUs picked directly from pallets or cases. The system operates around the clock, including lights-out environments, using AI-based navigation and 3D vision without requiring QR codes, floor markers, or specialized infrastructure. It works with standard shelving and is compatible with existing facilities and mezzanines. Two companion robots extend its capabilities—Giraffe for vertical storage up to 19 ft (6 m) and Retriever for goods-to-person and post-pick sortation workflows.
Trew plans to connect both systems with its SmartMoves WX Warehouse Execution System, CHAMP Warehouse Control System, sortation, and conveyor technologies to deliver integrated fulfillment solutions for ecommerce, retail, third-party logistics, and distribution operations.
"Fulfillment operations are under constant pressure to adapt quickly to business changes and SKU variations," said John Naylor, chief revenue officer at Trew. "Brightpick adds robotic fulfillment technologies that complement our portfolio and give clients more options when flexibility, storage density and picking productivity are priorities."
James Cox, chief commercial officer at Brightpick, cited cultural alignment as a driver of the deal. "This partnership reflects that shared trajectory and aligns well with both our cultures of putting customers first. We look forward to leveraging Trew's experience to bring unique and efficient warehouse automation solutions to market."
Brightpick, headquartered in Austin, Texas, has more than 250 employees and hundreds of AI robots deployed with customers across the U.S. and Europe.
