Okuma CNC Machines Now Compatible With Air Turbine Tools' High-Speed Spindles
Air Turbine Technology, Inc. has partnered with Okuma America Corporation to integrate Air Turbine Tools' high-speed governed spindles and live tooling—ranging from 25,000 to 90,000 RPM—into select Okuma CNC machines and lathes. The collaboration gives Okuma users access to plug-and-play high-speed cutting capability that reduces cycle times, minimizes wear on the primary machine spindle, and improves precision in high-RPM applications.
The partnership enables Okuma customers to add high-speed finishing, drilling, and micro-tool operations directly to their existing platforms using Air Turbine Tools' spindle and live tool systems. Installations operate from a standard 90 psi air supply and can be integrated via air-through-spindle, a tool changer mounting assembly, or manual airline connection.
Demonstrated results include up to a 330% reduction in cycle time using 50,000 and 65,000 rpm turbine spindles on an Okuma Genos MB-46 while maintaining identical surface finishes and 2µ precision.
Air Turbine Tools' solutions are now available through Okuma's purchasing system and distributor network, offering CNC users an option for high-speed finishing and light-cutting operations without additional wiring, control boxes, or maintenance requirements.
