LanoSync Q-Series Network Switches Offer IEEE 1588 PTP Timing
Substation protection, multicamera machine vision triggering, and time-stamped event logging across distributed SCADA systems depend on networked devices sharing an exact time reference. They also depend on the network staying up when a fiber is cut or a node fails. Antaira Technologies' LanoSync Q-Series is a five-model line of managed industrial Ethernet switches. It combines IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol version 2 (PTPv2) synchronization with ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) for factory automation, electrical substations, robotics and motion control, and multicamera machine vision networks that must coordinate actions, correlate measurements, or reconstruct events with exact timing.
The switches support PTPv2 in both Boundary Clock and Transparent Clock modes:
- Boundary Clock mode: the switch recovers time from the grandmaster and redistributes it downstream, isolating each network segment from upstream timing noise.
- Transparent Clock mode: the switch measures and corrects the residence time of every PTP message, so switch latency does not reduce timing accuracy.
This level of synchronization supports substation protection and IEC 61850 sampled values.
If a fiber is cut or a node fails, ERPS automatically redirects traffic along an alternate path in under 50 ms. This keeps control data, video streams, and telemetry moving during a network failure. Because G.8032 is an open standard, the switches interoperate with compliant equipment from other vendors and support complex multiring network topologies.
SFP+ uplinks accept 1, 2.5, and 10 Gbps optics, so a network can scale from individual pump stations to high-speed ring backbones without replacing switches. Fiber connectivity extends network reach across plant floors, rail corridors, and utility rights-of-way and eliminates electromagnetic interference.
Select models provide IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ up to 90 W/port. That power can run PTZ cameras, machine vision systems, wireless access points, and edge devices over a single Ethernet cable without separate field power supplies.
Every model includes ITU-T K.44 surge protection and operates from -40° to 185°F (-40° to 85°C), allowing installation in roadside cabinets, outdoor substations, industrial plants, rolling stock, and defense installations without additional climate control.
The series includes two managed Ethernet models and three managed PoE models:
Managed Ethernet:
