Monoblock Glass Vial Filling & Assembly Unit Speeds Changeovers
Pharmaceutical, diagnostic reagent, and other regulated liquid product manufacturers facing diversifying vial and closure formats—along with smaller batch sizes that require more frequent changeovers—need filling and assembly equipment that adjusts to each application without sacrificing precision.
The Monoblock Glass Vial Filling & Assembly Unit combines precision liquid filling, closure placement, tightening, labeling, and inspection in a single modular platform engineered around an application's specific components and manufacturing parameters, while accommodating multiple vial and closure formats through change parts and recipe selection.
The filling station can be configured with peristaltic, ceramic piston, or other custom pumping technology, with single or multiple filling heads; peristaltic setups can use disposable fluid paths. 316L stainless steel filling needles conduct direct draw from various product vessels; no-container/no-fill control minimizes wastage, and diving nozzles can be incorporated. Vials move through the machine on an intermittent-motion indexing starwheel for positive, repeatable positioning at each station, with infeed configurable for manual loading from trays or sleeves, accumulation and automated feeding, multiple vial formats via interchangeable change parts, and controlled discharge to accumulation stations or downstream equipment.
Closures are automatically oriented and delivered by a stainless steel vibratory feeding system, with options including screw caps, tamp-on closures, and pumps and dispensing components. Servo-controlled tightening provides capping process control with adjustable torque settings and available per-vial feedback. Sensors and inspection systems can be incorporated throughout the machine to verify vial presence, fill accuracy, closure presence, and cap height, along with checkweighing, applied torque monitoring, and automatic reject handling.
An Allen-Bradley PLC with touchscreen HMI supports setup and operation, with recipe-driven production for changeovers. Password-controlled operator access, fault reporting, and production run logs are included, along with process data collection and remote diagnostic capability.
