M-Clamp Toolholders Deliver High-Pressure Coolant for Large Inserts
Chip control and tool life become critical constraints when machining stainless steel and superalloys—materials that generate heat and resist clean chip evacuation at the cutting zone. Seco Tool's Jetstream Tooling M-Clamp is a toolholder system designed for large inserts that addresses these challenges through targeted high-pressure coolant delivery, double clamping security, and additively manufactured (AM) clamps.
Coolant is delivered directly through a 3D-printed clamp at the cutting zone, with a secondary DUO JET outlet providing additional flow. This dual-path approach manages temperature at the point of cut, extending tool life by at least 30% and improving surface finish results.
The AM clamp is positioned away from the cutting edge to reduce exposure to chip hammering—a primary cause of clamp wear and instability—resulting in fewer replacements and more consistent performance between insert changes.
Double clamping security is available for both negative and round positive inserts. A center-lock screw works in combination with the top clamp to limit insert movement and improve rotational stability under demanding cutting conditions.
A twist function and shared key slot design allow for faster insert indexing and changes. The 3D-printed clamps can also be configured to meet specific machining requirements, accommodating geometries and setups that standard clamps cannot.
