ALLWEILER AE-RG Hopper Pump Series Handles Dry Solids
Wastewater treatment plants handling dry sludge, biogas processing, and other solids-laden applications often struggle with clogging, bridging, and heavy component wear when pumping highly viscous or abrasive media. The ALLWEILER AE-RG Hopper Pump Series transfers highly viscous, abrasive, or solids-laden materials—including substances with up to 45% dry solids content—ranging from sticky starch to dewatered municipal sludge.
The pump uses progressing cavity technology paired with two intermeshing augers in the inlet hopper. Each screw can be configured as a mixing or conveying screw, or as a combination of both, which prevents bridge building and clogging at the inlet without a separately driven bridge-breaker. The mixing screw configuration also allows conditioning agents or other additives to be introduced through a bypass line into the inlet hopper, where they blend into the main pumping media.
An enlarged stuffing area between the hopper and rotor/stator allows the feed screws to overload the chamber, nearly filling the conveying chambers between rotor and stator and eliminating partial dry running. This reduces wear on the rotor and stator, cutting down on operational interruptions and spare parts costs.
Maintenance is handled through a maintenance-in-place design, allowing on-site service without removing the full pump, and patented dry run protection provides automated safeguards that reduce maintenance workload. A low overall height simplifies integration into new or existing plant layouts, and a maintenance-free seal paired with a gearbox bearing supports reliability and uptime. External flushing ports on the inlet and stuffing casing streamline cleaning and inspection.
Capacities reach up to 148 GPM (560 L/min) with pressure ratings up to 348 psi (24 bar), delivering pulsation-free flow at fluid temperatures up to 275°F (135°C).
