mPOWER Connectors Add Through-Hole Termination for Harsh Environments
Applications requiring mechanical robustness under vibration, shock, or thermal stress—common in military, aerospace, and industrial environments—often demand through-hole termination where surface-mount connections fall short. Samtec's mPOWER Ultra Micro Connector System now includes through-hole PCB termination options across its vertical board connectors (UMPS, UMPT) and right-angle board connectors (UMPT-RA).
The through-hole configuration delivers the same current capacity as the existing surface-mount lineup: up to 18 A per power blade. The compact form factor provides a 40% reduction in space compared to conventional power connectors. Vertical and right-angle orientations are available, with stack heights from 5 to 20 mm (0.20 to 0.79 in) and 2 to 10 power positions. Latching features are included for added retention. The system supports board-to-board, wire-to-board, and wire-to-wire configurations. PVC or fluoropolymer (Teflon) cable assemblies are available in multiple wire gauges.
