CM-HVLP Mica Capacitors Handle High Voltage in Compact SMD Package
High-power electronic systems in defense, space, and medical applications face a persistent tradeoff: components that handle high voltage and fast charge/discharge cycles tend to be too large for increasingly constrained PCB layouts. Exxelia's CM-HVLP series (High-Voltage Low-Profile Reconstituted Mica Capacitors) is an SMD-mount capacitor engineered to handle both pulse and high-voltage filtering functions within a compact 20 x 20 mm (8080) footprint.
Built on reconstituted mica dielectric technology, the CM-HVLP series delivers capacitance stability with no drift under voltage. The design supports high energy density, very low equivalent series inductance (ESL), low ESR, and the ability to withstand extreme dV/dt rates for ultra-fast discharge under intensive repetitive cycles.
Capacitance ranges from 10 to 750 nF, with discharge voltage ratings from 2,500 to 5,000 V and DC ratings from 1,500 to 4,000V DC.
Qualification testing follows MIL standards and covers severe mechanical shock and vibration profiles, thermal cycling from -55° to 257°F (-55° to 125°C), and long-duration endurance life testing. The series draws on the same reconstituted mica technology used in space QPL-qualified components.
