KR 1240 and KR 1824 Cobots Handle Heavier Loads With 7-Axis Design

Kassow Robots' KR 1240 and KR 1824 cobots offer 88 lb and 53 lb payloads with an optional EDGE-integrated controller for mobile deployment.

Kassow Robots' KR 1240 and KR 1824 are seven-axis collaborative robots designed for higher-payload applications, including palletizing, machine tending, material handling, and end-of-line automation. Both models share a compact footprint of 8 x 8 in (194 x 194 mm) and support external or EDGE-integrated controller options, the latter allowing the controller to be housed within the robot's base for use in mobile setups such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).

Compared to earlier KR Series models, the KR 1240 and KR 1824 deliver 50% higher joint torque, more than 20% faster wrist joint speeds, and 40% increased mechanical stiffness. All seven KR Series models, including these two, are available in the Edge Edition.

The KR 1240 supports an 88 lb (40 kg) payload with a 47 in (1,200 mm) reach and weighs 176 lb (80 kg). Joint speeds are 110 deg/s at J1/J2, 162 deg/s at J3/J4, and 225 deg/s at J5/J6/J7. It is suited for machine tending, heavy pick-and-place, and handling metal parts and assemblies.

The KR 1824 supports a 53 lb (24 kg) payload with a 71 in (1,800 mm) reach and weighs 168 lb (76 kg). Joint speeds are 110 deg/s at J1/J2, 162 deg/s at J3/J4, and 270 deg/s at J5/J6/J7. It is suited for palletizing, packaging, and logistics, and end-of-line automation.

Both models include interfaces for ROS/ROS2 and Profinet and offer seven degrees of freedom.
