Verifying parts against tight tolerances requires metrology-grade accuracy that holds up regardless of who's operating the scanner. Artec 3D's Point II is a target-based handheld laser scanner built for industrial metrology, capturing up to 5.8 million points per second—more than double its predecessor's rate—while maintaining certified 0.02 mm accuracy.
An expanded laser configuration increases the number of laser lines projected in each scanning mode: 54 lines in ultra-fast mode and 17 parallel lines in hyperfine mode, letting each pass capture more surface data for faster, more detailed digitization.
Operators switch between three modes at the touch of a button: ultra-fast scanning for rapid capture across larger surfaces, hyperfine parallel scanning for intricate detail, and single-laser mode for deep holes and hard-to-reach features—together covering objects from small components to large assemblies.
Accuracy and repeatability are verified in an ISO-certified lab, and the scanner complies with VDI/VDE 2634 and JJF 1951 standards. The palm-sized unit is lightweight and ergonomic, can be operated one-handed, and tilts into confined areas. It is IP50-rated for dust protection and rated for an operating range of 14° to 104°F (−10° to 40°C). The scanner integrates with Artec Studio, the accompanying 3D scanning and processing software, and can be paired with other 3D scanners to combine capabilities within a single project, from reverse engineering to quality inspection.
