Ferrosource Opens On-Campus Steel Processing Facility at Big River Steel Works
Steel processing and supply company Ferrosource is completing construction of a new Ferrosource Metal Processing (FMP) facility on the Big River Steel Works (BRSW) campus in Osceola, Arkansas, with operations set to begin in August 2026.
The facility introduces a zero-inbound-freight processing model—customers can source mill-produced steel and value-added processing from a single location, eliminating the cost and logistics of shipping to an off-site processor. The model reduces total delivered cost, compresses lead times, and cuts material handling throughout the supply chain.
FMP will process Galvanized, Galvalume, Galvannealed, Pre-Painted, and Cold Rolled Steel, serving manufacturers in construction, agriculture, HVAC, appliance, and metal building markets. Outbound shipping options include truck, rail, and barge, with direct access to the Mississippi River system connecting customers across the Midwest and central U.S.
The $70 million-plus investment is expected to create more than 40 direct full-time jobs at steady state, with more than 100 total jobs, including indirect and induced employment in the region. The project received support from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and Mississippi County and is expected to use New Markets Tax Credit financing.
"By locating processing directly at Big River Steel, we can offer manufacturers a fundamentally more efficient supply chain: lower logistics costs, faster turnaround, fewer material touches, and access to responsibly produced steel," said Kevin Udolph, VP of Commercial and Business Development at Ferrosource.
Dan Brown, EVP and COO at Big River Steel, added that having a dedicated on-campus processor gives customers immediate access to value-added processing alongside the mill's own capacity.
Ferrosource is currently accepting applications for positions including crane, slitter, and forklift operators, maintenance professionals, and sales and logistics roles. Resumes can be sent to [email protected].
