Eos Energy Expands U.S. Manufacturing and Launches New Software Hub in Pittsburgh

Who: Eos Energy Enterprises, Inc., American manufacturer of zinc-based battery energy storage systems (BESS)

Where: Marshall Township and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Details: Eos Energy is advancing its next phase of growth with a major U.S. manufacturing expansion and the launch of a new software hub, supported by a $24 million state-led economic development package. The initiative—known as Project AMAZE—reflects a shared commitment between Eos and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to strengthen domestic energy storage, manufacturing innovation, and industrial job creation.

The company will construct a 432,000-sq-ft. manufacturing facility in Marshall Township, expanding capacity to 8 GWh of annualized energy storage. The new site is in addition to the existing Turtle Creek operation and will enable a shift from single-piece flow to high-efficiency, large-scale production.

Eos will also open a new software hub at Nova Place in Pittsburgh, supporting its proprietary battery management system, controls, and analytics platform, DawnOS. The hub will further integrate Eos into Pittsburgh's growing innovation ecosystem—home to leaders in advanced manufacturing, AI, and robotics—and deepen collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University to foster workforce development in engineering and computer science.

Backed by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Allegheny County, construction and hiring are expected to accelerate through 2026, adding 1,000 jobs across operations, engineering, and software development.

PolyFlex Opens New Thermoforming and Recycling Hub in Tennessee

Who: PolyFlex – Part of Nefab Group, plastics packaging manufacturer

Where: McMinnville, Tennessee

Details: PolyFlex has opened a new 137,000 sq. ft. facility in McMinnville to serve as a heavy-gauge thermoforming hub. The site integrates new extrusion and rotary thermoforming lines, expected to reduce in-house sheet costs by 15% and expand material production capacity.

The facility will consolidate Nefab's Morrison Thermoforming operations and is slated to have new extruders operational by December 2025. The site is designed to support industrial and automotive packaging applications with expanded rotary thermoforming, heavy and thin-gauge extrusion, and higher production efficiency.

A key feature of the plant is its closed-loop recycling system. Equipped with a new grinder, the site allows customers to return used plastic trays at end-of-life to be reprocessed into new sheets, reducing raw material reliance, lowering waste, and supporting circular economy initiatives.

The McMinnville hub is part of Nefab's broader North American expansion strategy, which includes recent facility investments in the U.S. and Mexico and acquisitions to strengthen sustainable packaging capabilities.
