Four Cleveland State University students working under the direction of FIERF Magnet School Professor Dr. John Frater have been awarded 2006 Forging Achievement Awards by the Forging Industry Education and Research Foundation.

The winners are Roy Aukerman, Justin Bellini, Michael Glover, and Kevin Gollon, all undergraduates in the university's Mechanical Engineering Department. The students worked with FIA member Impaction of Solon, OH, the forging division of Swagelok Co., to design a system to deliver forging billets from an elevated conveyor system to a press and its operator.

The result of their work is a solution that is safe and results in cost savings. Visit the FIA webpage, www.forging.org, to view the entire report.
