Optimas Keeps Quality Management Operating at Peak Levels

March 7, 2023
Recent IATF certification, passing ISO 9001 surveillance audits, and investment in inspection equipment advances Optimas’ high standards of quality.

Optimas Solutions, a worldwide manufacturer, distributor, and service provider, has made significant improvements to its quality management systems in order to meet the high demands of its customers for top-notch fasteners. The company has recently passed its ISO 9001 surveillance audit at its headquarters and three distribution facilities and has installed two VisionLab inspection systems at its quality labs in Wood Dale, IL, and Columbus, IN.

Gaby Gallegos, Optimas' Vice President of Quality, stated that the company places a great deal of emphasis on quality and ensuring that its management systems lead the way for customers. The Fresno, CA; Sturtevant, WI; and Mexicali, MX distribution facilities have demonstrated Optimas' deep commitment to quality and its importance to its customers by receiving no major or minor nonconformances from the audits.

Last year, Optimas renewed its IATF 16949 certification, which is the highest level of quality in the automotive industry and beyond. According to Gallegos, only 15% of organizations worldwide achieve both ISO and IATF accreditation during the same cycle. This is the first time the company's global operations have achieved these levels of certification, which is a high-water mark for Optimas' quality management system.

Optimas has also purchased the VisionLab 150 inspection system, which is one of the world's most advanced inspection systems. The system is designed to further automate the fastener inspection process, and it has the flexibility to measure and inspect various fasteners and their characteristics to print specifications. With standard, easy-to-use software that provides zero defect quality, the VisionLab 150 inspection system reduces the time required for a complete part inspection by 92% compared to a manual inspection process executed by an experienced quality engineer.

According to Daniel Harms, CEO of Optimas Americas, the company's highest priority is to invest in its quality management systems to meet the demands of its customers and lead the industry in quality efforts. The certifications and the new inspection equipment offer a level of quality that is unmatched in the industry, and it is a very strong calling card for manufacturers seeking fastener sourcing services. The existing customers can also have more confidence that Optimas is serious about delivering quality parts to their production facilities.
