KEB AMERICA INC.’s new R6-NCM line regenerative drives are available as replacements to regeneration resistors and allow energy to be returned to an electrical line during periods of motor overhauling. The ability to recover system energy is particularly attractive in lifting applications: Crane and hoists lifting large loads and operating at high-duty levels will provide the quickest ROI – possibly in two years or less, according to the source.
The supplier of gear motors, brakes, and motor control devices for material handling, manufactures its products in the U.S.
The R6-NCM line regenerative units uses an improved control scheme called “Natural Current Modulation” (NCM) to return energy to the incoming line. The net result of the new NCM control scheme is improved performance in the form of lower power distortion and simplified wiring. The R6 product range extends up to 400Hp and the units can be equipped with a serial or ethernet-based communication interface.
“Across industries there is a push to go green and the R6-NCM achieves this while lowering the lifetime cost of ownership of the equipment,” stated KEB America business development manager Jonathan Bullick. “The KEB R6 unit is simple to commission and can be easily paired with third-party VFDs. It is a relatively compact unit that can also be used in control modernizations. This allows a customer to keep their existing controls but adds the energy saving benefits of line regeneration.”
