FIA Annual Meeting To Illustrate its Strategic Plan

April 20, 2010
Set for May 15-18 in Amelia Island, FL

The Forging Industry Association's annual meeting is slated for May 15-18, at the Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island, FL. Featuring outstanding speakers in line with the organization's strategic plan, FIA members are encouraged to take full advantage of this opportunity.

The 2010 lineup includes:

  • The Economy at Mid-Year: Recession Lessons and Recovery Prospects — Dr. Ken Mayland returns to address the prospects of a general economic recovery, and U.S. manufacturing specifically.
  • Washington Update and the New Forging PAC — The Laurin Baker Group will update attendees on current and future legislation that may impact the forging industry. The newly formed Forging Political Action Committee will be introduced, which was formed to promote political participation among the employees of FIA, approved member company participants, and others with an interest in the forging industry through voluntary, personal, and financial participation.
  • State of the Indian Forging Industry — A representative from Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI) will present an overview of the forging industry in India.
  • Staffing a Management Team That "Gets It" — Author Neil Witmer summarizes the "simplified fundamentals" your managers must master in order to lead your organization towards a robust recovery.
Additionally, former Pennsylvania governor and Sec. of Homeland Security Tom Ridge will discuss a current perspective of world events, and Capt. Scott O'Grady, who was shot down over Bosnia, will also be featured. The program will include recognition of those companies who have achieved outstanding safety performances, as well as those who have made a financial investment in the future of the industry as FIERF Anvil members. Executive roundtables will also provide the venue for benchmarking and networking with members who share a common focus. For more information, visit the FIA's website, www.forging.org.
