Firth Rixson Acquires Schlosser Forge

Oct. 1, 2004
Ring Roller Deemed Excellent Strategic Fit

Firth Rixson Ltd. has acquired Schlosser Forge Company. Schlosser specializes in forging seamless rolled rings, primarily for aerospace applications, and is located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Commenting on the deal, Armand F. Lauzon, Jr., CEO of Firth Rixson, says, "This acquisition is an excellent strategic fit with Firth Rixson, because it expands our ability to produce seamless rolled rings in different sizes and shapes. Schlosser gives Firth Rixson the resources to satisfy a broader range of aerospace customer requirements, particularly in the area of complex configurations with greater face heights than we were able to manufacture before. With Schlosser, we're now in a better position to compete in specialized segments of the seamless ring industry."

Lauzon says that the strategic fit of the acquisition extends beyond enhancements to existing production capabilities. "Schlosser has a 30-year history of serving the aerospace industry, which is Firth Rixson's largest single segment. For these reasons, bringing Schlosser, with its well-deserved reputation for customer service, into our portfolio of forging operations in the US, UK, continental Europe and Asia, strengthens our ability to give customers around the world a proven and comprehensive source of supply."
