Ohio Technology Showcase, a three-day event, will combine technical sessions, plenary addresses by business, political and government leaders, special forums on selected topics, BestPractices training and tours of Showcase plants.
The forging program, moderated by Ramesh Jain, DOE ITP, will feature:
Rapid Heating Technologies for Forging Operations Dr. Craig Blue, Group Leader, Materials Processing, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Rob Mayer, President, Queen City Forge. This session will discuss the advantages of three closely related technologies that are being developed under DOE Funding. These technologies have broad application in the following areas:
• Rapid IR heating of Forging Dies
• Rapid IR heating for aluminum billets for forging operations
• Rapid IR heating as applied to Heat Treating Operations.
Plant Wide Assessments in the Forging Industry Dr. Anthony L. Wright, Program Manager, Best Practices Support, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This session will review the results of energy efficiency assessments conducted at SIFCO Forge, Metaldyne, Jernberg Industries and Utica Forge.
Center for Excellence in Forging Technology Dr. Rajiv Shivpuri, Director, Center for Excellence in Forging Technology, The Ohio State University. Dr. Shivpuri will moderate a session that will discuss the overall program at CEFT and present the results of current CEFT research efforts.
