Inaugural Delivery Made from Firth Rixson's Georgia Forging Facility
In just 14 weeks since its start-up, the Firth Rixson Forgings LLC plant in Liberty County, GA completed its first delivery of aerospace engine components to customers.
The facility, which celebrated its grand opening in January of this year, custom designs and manufactures components for aircraft engines in a three-step process: pre-forge, forge, and post-forge. It is the company's fourth closed die forging operation and the first in the United States.
"This remarkable achievement is another industry benchmark," stated Firth Rixson CEO David Mortimer. "Firth Rixson will continue to set the highest standards for customer satisfaction in the Aerospace market as we move into the full production phase in Georgia."
April 25 — the date of the initial delivery — also marked date of the new plant's certification to the ISO 9001:2008 and AS9100:2009 standards.
