According to a Reuters news service report, Bharat Forge Ltd. of India has bought Federal Forge in an all-cash purchase totaling $9.1 million. The Bombay Stock Exchange announced the purchase on Saturday.
Bharat is described as the world's second-largest forging organization. The deal was completed after a new labor contract was negotiated with the local union. Bharat completed the purchase through a wholly owned subsidiary, Bharat Forge America Inc.
"Our strategy is to expand our ‘dual shore’ manufacturing base through strategically located complementary facilities around the world," Baba Kalanyi, chairman and managing director, Bharat Forge Ltd., said.
Federal Forge, Lansing, MI, designs and manufactutres forged steel components for the automotive industry, including control arms, links, steering knuckles, and connecting rods.
