Butech Adds Activities to Forging Cylinder Rebuild Operations

July 6, 2005
Operations merged in 300,000-ft2facility.

Butech Inc, Salem, OH, recently acquired the intellectual property and products of the former E.W. Bliss-Rolling Mill Division (also formerly known as Bliss-Salem) from the DMS-Bliss Co. DMS-Bliss is the division of DMS, Lille, France, formed after the purchase of Bliss-Salem in 1999. At that time, Butech acquired the Bliss-Salem facility, and the two organizations continued to do business on the site.

Butech is also providing rebuild services for Bliss and other rolling mill automatic gage control cylinders. The equipment will be relocated in its facility and merged with Butech's forging/ extrusion press cylinder manufacturing and service operation. This includes the cylinder test stand and a 6,000 psi hydraulic power unit."

Since 1999 Butech has invested over $7 million in its manufacturing capabilities, which include 300,000-ft2 of workshop space with 12 bays and a covered rail spur. The workshop has 200-ton crane capacity and 75-foot under-hook crane height. It operates some 50 machining centers, a complete heavy-weld department, and a staff of highly skilled assembly and field service personnel. It installs hydraulic piping and electrical wiring on machinery, including high-pressure hydraulic systems and sophisticated motion control systems.
