Plans call for $14-million investment within 5 years.

A recently formed company in Ohio, Forgitron, plans to invest $14 million in Camden, SC, to forge aluminum wheels for the auto industry, according to a report in The State, South Carolina’s Homepage at http://www.thestate.com.

Forgitron, currently based in Cleveland, OH, plans to buy a 78,000-sq-ft shell building in the Steeplechase Industrial Park near Interstate 20 in Camden. The company eventually will move its headquarters to Camden.

Initially, the company plans to invest $5-7 million for forging presses and related equipment. It will hire 10 to 15 people before startup next spring.

Tom Smith will be plant manager, according to the report. He has 33 years of experience in forging. He previously worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Erie, PA.
