Jan. 26, 2006
Appointments involve heads of rolled ring, forging, and metals production divisions.

Firth Rixson has announced that David Mortimer has been appointed chief operating officer, adding new responsibilities to his existing role as senior vice president, Rings Division. In this newly created position, Mortimer will report to Armand Lauzon, CEO, and will focus on operational excellence throughout the company. Mortimer joined Firth Rixson in 2003 as General Manager of Firth Rixson Monroe. Prior to that, he held general management positions at Precision Castparts Corporation.

Trevor Swales will fill the newly created position of vice president, Forgings Division. Swales will add management of the company’s Darley Dale and Hungarian operations to his existing responsibilities at the Meadowhall and River Don facilities. Swales joined Firth Rixson in 2004 from Doncasters where he held a number of senior management positions.

Philip Kirkham will become vice president, Metals Division, also a newly created position. Kirkham will add the Firth Rixson Casting operations to his existing management responsibilities at the company’s Enpar and Superalloy operations. Kirkham joined Firth Rixson in 2000 after holding senior management positions in the metals and refractory industries.

Commenting on the new appointments, CEO Lauzon said, “These changes represent a further strengthening of the Firth Rixson organization and better position the Group to meet long-term objectives.”
