June 20, 2007 — NEWCAST, a trade fair that debuted in 2003 as a venue for engineers, production managers and buyers to exchange information on component design, is accelerating and broadening its growth strategy. In 2003, and again this year, NEWCAST was presented together with three events targeted to the metalcasting (GIFA), metal producing (METEC), and metal heat-treatment (THERMPROCESS) industries.
All four events are planned and presented by Messe Dsseldorf, in Dsseldorf, Germany. Each event will be held again in 2011, but NEWCAST will be presented now on a biennial cycle. The next staging of NEWCAST will be June 23-25, 2009.
This change — according to Messe Dsseldorf — is based on a survey of visitors to NEWCAST 07, and the conclusion that a large majority of attendees favor more frequent gatherings "in sync with the fast pace of innovations occurring in this sector."
Most of the survey respondents showed interest, too, in design solutions beyond casting. As such, the next staging of NEWCAST will include NEWPART Innovation Parc — an exhibition that will include forged and sintered parts.
The 2009 event will be accompanied by the 4th NEWCAST Forum, and by a supporting program of seminars and congresses.
The organizers of GIFA, METEC, THERMPROCESS, and NEWCAST report that the 2007 staging of the four expos resulted in an attendance increase of 8% over the 2003 events. Messe Dsseldorf said this year's events (June 12-16) drew more than 77,000 visitors to Dsseldorf.
