Dana Inc. has started producing its Spicer AdvanTEK Ultra axle at its new manufacturing plant in Chongqing, China, to support regional production of a disconnecting all-wheel-drive system for light vehicles. The axle is designed for passenger cars, vans, crossovers, and SUVs. The axle is produced with the Spicer SmartConnect disconnecting all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

"The Spicer® AdvanTEK Ultra axle system demonstrates how Dana's ongoing investments in engineering produce benefits for vehicle manufacturers and buyers alike."
According to Dana, the AdvanTEK Ultra axle operates with ultra-low viscosity lubricants and maintains gear durability and service life while reducing energy loss by up a 45% compared with a typical axle.
Spicer AdvanTEK Ultra axles will be the basis for future drive technologies too, according to the developer, supplementing hybrid vehicles as a transition into electrification.
Ford Motor Co. recently named Dana as its exclusive supplier of rear drive units for its AWD Ford Edge crossover vehicle, which will be available in North America, Europe, and Asia starting with the 2019 model year.
Also, the AdvanTEK Ultra axle recently earned the 2019 Automotive News PACE Award, recognizing for advancement, innovation, and dedication to excellence among automotive suppliers.
