Two Accuride Corporation commercial-vehicle wheel plants are the recipients of Daimler Trucks North America’s “Masters of Quality” Supplier Awards for 2013.  The Camden Operations in Camden, SC, a rotary forging and machining plant for aluminum wheels; and the Accuride de Mexico steel and aluminum wheel plant in Monterrey, Mexico, were recognized by DTNA for their performance in 2013.

According to Accuride, this is the third time that Monterrey plant has has earned the award, and the first time the Camden plant has been so recognized.

Daimler Trucks North America LLC manufactures the Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built Buses commercial vehicle lines. It is an operating unit of Daimler AG, with manufacturing and assembly plants in Cleveland, Gastonia, and High Point, NC; Gastonia, SC; Portland, OR; Redford, MI; and Santiago Tianguistenco and Saltillo, Mexico.

Accuride’s Camden plant supplies aluminum wheels to DTNA U.S. plants for Freightliner and Freightliner Custom Chassis applications.

Accuride de Mexico produces steel wheels for both Freightliner truck and Daimler bus brands produced in Mexico.

Accuride’s Gunite brand brake drums, hubs, rotors, automatic slack adjusters, and other wheel-end components are supplied to DTNA too, and have been recognized in the past with the Masters of Quality award.

The Masters of Quality program recognizes suppliers that have received high scores for product quality, on-time delivery, technology, and cost performance, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality and overall performance improvement.

“Accuride is honored to again be among the handful of suppliers recognized as Masters of Quality by Daimler Trucks North America for dedicated service to its operations,” stated Scott Hazlett, Accuride senior vice president/Operations.

He added: “Our Monterrey and Camden associates are humbled by this acknowledgement of their commitment to deliver on the metrics that matter to DTNA, and – in the case of our Camden facility – to receive this honor for the first time.  These awards reflect Accuride’s dedication to dependable quality, delivery and lead-time performance for our customers, and the adoption of LEAN manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement across our operations.”
