Executive Changes at American Axle

First moves under new chairman Satine is global leader Szymanski to head N.A. operations

American Axle & Manufacturing Inc. is implementing a series of changes in its executive team, the first new managers appointed to the company since the appointment of David C. Dauch as chairman, president, and CEO of the designer and manufacturer of driveline and drivetrain systems for light trucks, SUVs, passenger cars and crossover vehicles, as well as commercial vehicles, last August.

Alberto L. Satine was promoted from group vice president, Global Sales and Business Development to senior vice president for Global Driveline Operations. The Detroit-based organization has manufacturing locations in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, as well as Brazil, China, India, Mexico, Thailand, the U.K., among other markets.

Alberto L. Satine joined AAM in June 2001 as general manager of International Operations, and has over 20 years of experience in the international automotive supplier sector. For American Axle, has served as general manager, Latin/South America Driveline Sales/Operations; executive director, Global Procurement-Direct Materials; vice president, Procurement; vice president, Strategic & Business Development.

Satine will overseas AAM's driveline business and manufacturing operations around the world.

Steven J. Proctor now takes the title of group vice president, Global Sales and Business Development, and will oversee the corporation’s strategic growth initiatives and global sales activities.

Proctor’s previous title was president of AAM-Europe and corporate vice president of American Axle & Manufacturing Inc.

David A. Culton was appointed vice president, Material Cost Optimization. His responsibilities will include “all aspects and drivers of AAM's total cost structure,” according to the company’s announcement.

Thomas J. Szymanski was promoted to president of AAM North America, and corporate vice president of American Axle & Manufacturing Inc. Szymanski will have responsibility for AAM's driveline manufacturing operations in North America.

"These appointments strengthen our leadership team that will guide AAM to its next level of profitable global growth while continuing to expand and diversify our customer base, product portfolio and served markets."
