Sifco Orders Heat-Treating Equipment

AFC-Holcroft will supply a large rotary reheat furnace to SIFCO Forge Group in Cleveland, following a recent contract. The value of the purchase and the schedule for delivery have not been announced. SIFCO is a fully integrated forging facility — closed-die forging up to 40,000 lb; hydraulic presses up to 2,500 tons; precision hydraulic screw press; mechanical upsetter; 5,000-lb open-frame hammer — producing components in a range of materials, including carbon, alloy, and stainless steels, aluminum, titanium, and cobalt, copper, and nickel alloys. SIFCO’s products include a wide range or aircraft components. Among these are gears, turbine shafts, compressor discs, landing gear components, engine mounts, propeller hubs, and turbine discs. Products for other applications include structural supports, wheel and brake assembles, hydraulic actuator components, medical components, nuclear components, and helicopter rotor hubs. The contractor reports that the order involves a rotary reheat furnace with an operating temperature of 2,300°F and a net load capacity of 8,000 lb/hour. “We are very excited to establish new customer relationships and provide the latest technology available to a wide range of products for the thermal processing industry” stated AFC-Holcroft sales engineer Leonard P. Goodlesky. Michigan-based AFC-Holcroft is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of thermal processing systems.
