McInnes Orders Ring-Rolling Machine

Will provide new capabilities for larger, heavier rings.

McInnes Rolled Rings, Erie, PA, placed an order with SMS Meer's Ring Rolling Division (Wagner), in conjunction with Girard Associates, for delivery of a Type RAW 160/125 Radial-Axial ring rolling machine for delivery in 2010.

The new mill is expected to be installed in the summer of 2010.

The new equipment will allow McInnes Rolled Rings to produce rings larger than 120 in. diameter, weighing more than 7,000 lb., in carbon, alloy, and stainless steel. McInnes says the new mill will expand its product range for the power transmission, energy, and aircraft bearing markets.

The project will include all support equipment and heat treat facilities to accommodate the increase in both size and capacity. The new 160/125 will compliment the existing 63/63 RAW mill that currently produces rings from 20 in.to 70 in.
