Why are Some US States More Innovative than Others?

Washington and California are the top two innovative states.

With 11.8% of its workforce holding either a science or technical degree, Massachusetts has an advantage when it comes to innovation. The state ranked third on a recent list of innovative states.

Created by Bloomberg, the analysis took into consideration factors such the number of people with degrees in STEM, the number of patents and R&D spending as a percentage of the U.S. total.
